During the National Day holiday, the Yuhuang Temple in Jincheng City continued to see a surge in visitors, with tourists from all over the country flocking to the site to catch a glimpse of the national treasure—the Yuan Dynasty’s 28 Constellations colored clay sculptures.

The colored clay sculptures of the Twenty-Eight Lunar Mansions at the Jade Emperor Temple are the only surviving, one-of-a-kind example of Yuan Dynasty Taoist colored sculptures in the country. With their vivid expressions and boundless vitality, these sculptures represent the pinnacle of Yuan Dynasty sculptural art. Countless visitors have paused to marvel at the craftsmanship of ancient artisans, deeply moved by the profound ancient charm.

To breathe new life into this millennia-old cultural heritage, the scenic area innovatively launched a “Twenty-Eight Constellations” themed dance performance for the National Day holiday. Drawing inspiration from the ancient sculptures, the dance features graceful and elegant movements that recreate the ethereal essence of the constellations, transforming static artifacts into a dynamic feast of traditional Chinese culture. Blending the ancient and the modern with exquisite beauty and grandeur, the performance created a vibrant on-site atmosphere, earning unanimous praise from visitors across the country and going viral online.

Traditional cultural relics have “come to life,” and the millennia-old constellations have “gone viral.” This National Day, Jincheng’s Jade Emperor Temple used culture to shape tourism and tourism to highlight culture, allowing the precious ancient architectural heritage and the cultural legacy of the constellations to shine with new brilliance in the new era.
