In mid-to-late April, the 2026 Shanxi Provincial National Reading Conference and National Reading Week, themed “Cultivating a Culture of Reading and Building a Culturally Strong Province,” will be held in Jincheng City. As 2026 marks the first year since the promulgation and implementation of the “Regulations on Promoting National Reading” and the establishment of “National Reading Week,” this conference will prioritize the promotion and implementation of the regulations as a key agenda item, fully leveraging Shanxi’s cultural resources to organize and carry out themed reading activities.
The main venue for the conference will be Longma Lake in the Fengcheng Health and Wellness Demonstration Zone, with a sub-venue at Shuli Town in Qinshui County.
During the National Reading Week, the event will emphasize “effectiveness,” “integration,” “cultural richness,” and “public participation.” Drawing on Shanxi’s cultural heritage and regional characteristics, it will deeply integrate local Jincheng elements such as the culture of Zhao Shuli. Activities will include the Fengcheng Book Fair, the “City of Reading, Book-Scented Jincheng” Literary Garden Party, the “Rereading Zhao Shuli” series of events, as well as the “Copyright Empowerment, Cultural Strengthening of the Province” April 26 Copyright Awareness Campaign, “Light Up Reading Micro-Wishes,” “Protecting the Young 2026 · Green Bookmark Campaign,” and the creation of the “Urban Cultural Salon”—among more than ten other activities.
