Reporters learned that Qinshui was selected as the host for this high-profile beekeeping event primarily due to its two key advantages: “excellent ecological endowment” and “solid industrial foundation.” As Shanxi Province's sole “China Honeybee Capital,” Qinshui boasts a pristine ecological environment with high forest coverage and abundant nectar sources. It hosts over 40 families and 100 species of nectar-producing plants across approximately 2 million mu (133,333 hectares), supporting a beehive capacity exceeding 100,000 hives. With primary nectar sources including Chinese locust, black locust, and wolfberry, the region enjoys an uninterrupted flowering season spanning eight months annually, providing uniquely favorable conditions for beekeeping development.

In recent years, Qinshui County has prioritized the bee industry as a key specialty sector to boost agricultural efficiency and farmer income. With cumulative investments exceeding 50 million yuan, the county has strengthened policy guidance, technological support, and brand development, driving the industry's transformation from traditional scattered beekeeping to large-scale, standardized, and industrialized operations. Currently, the county hosts 132 standardized apiaries with over 100 hives each and 34 tourism-oriented bee farms. These efforts have earned Qinshui County titles including “National Demonstration County for Modern Bee Industry Technology System,” “National Demonstration County for Precision Poverty Alleviation through Beekeeping,” and “National Outstanding Hometown of the Bee Industry.” (By Gao Jinlong)
